A-Train Shoes - The Boys
As part of a small team, I got to work on 2 pairs of shoes for The Boys: A-Train’s blue runners and Shockwave’s orange runners. One involved combining 3 existing shoes and the other was a bigger build. For both, we digitised and patterned the shoes, lasercut fabric and leather, sewed and glued them together.
Shockwave’s orange runners were comprised of 3 different pre-existing sneakers that we took apart and recombined. We took the midsole and outsole of one, the toebox and tongue of another, and the upper of a third to create a new look that the designer liked. Additionally, we patterned and lasercut panels to further differentiate the design.
For A-Train’s blue runners, we took apart the upper from an existing shoe, added a custom midsole and outsole, then custom made a covering for the tongue and upper. The covering was first patterned manually, digitized, then 3D modelled with his iconic logo. The part was 3D printered and finished before making a mold. We then cast the piece out of a softer polyurethane and attached it to the final product.
